Nothing to do in the summer. What a contrast with te winter.
We have been here in the summer. There are 4 trails to choose from, all claim to be if hard difficulty. We walked the 8km trail, which was marked as being in a poorer condition as usual, but it was still walkable without major issues.
The trail very narrow all the way, you can only walk behind each other. It has some nice viewing points , but you mostly walk through between trees, seeing the green nature of sweden.
Nice place for skiing and snowboarding
Hovfjället got everything they need for creating a great day out. Unfortunately no effort is given in making it good.
Unattentive staff, no park for snowboard/ski. Not one single jump to have some fun on. They haven't even taken the time to build a few "natural" jumps or even put up some rails. It would have taken them 5 hours.
For what i understand all has gone into 3-4 animal foam gates for the kids to ski around and a slide.
A plus for having grills ready to go and free of charge.
Other than that, I couldn't find one single effort given into making this place fun for anyone between 5 and 50 years old. It's not long enough for cruising. You end up spending way too much time in the lifts. And the chair lift will put the fear of God in you. It's probably 50 years old. And feels like it. Good prepared slops. But that's not good enough in 2022.
The restaurant haven't bothered to clean up the terrace. It is full of snow/ice. The food is pretty average, but ok'ish for its price.
Of all ski destinations I have been to. Few have potential like hovfjället and no one manages to do less with it. It could have been the place to be every weekend for the locals.
If you live in the area it's nice to have. On a sunny day, ski for an hour and have a ice cold beer on the terrace. If you have to travel to get there. Keep driving north.
Hovfjället is perfect for us as a family to ski. Good prices, great chairlift with beautiful views and very friendly.
